What You Need To Know
To date the group have had three UK number one singles; "Whole Again", the fourth best-selling single by a girl group of all time, "Eternal Flame", a song originally recorded by The Bangles, and "The Tide Is High (Get the Feeling)", a song originally recorded by The Paragons and later by Blondie. They have also had two double-platinum number-one albums in the UK, their debut Right Now and its follow-up Feels So Good. They released their final studio album Ladies Night on 10 November 2003. As of April 2013, Atomic Kitten have sold over 10 million records worldwide. Their discography consists of three studio albums, five compilation albums and nineteen singles including two charity singles following the band's split. Their music is a mix of dance pop, elegant ballads and very good vocals. The girls proved they could sing live throughout their whole career both during promotional tour and live tours across Uk.

Atomic Kitten original line-up |
The original line-up featured Liz McClarnon, Kerry Katona and Heidi Range (who is now in the Sugababes), but Range decided to quit due to artistic differences and was replaced by Natasha Hamilton. The three original girls of Atomic Kitten released three singles and an album reaching minor success. After the release of their third single "Follow Me" and just before the release of their biggest hit "Whole Again", Katona decided to quit the band and was replaced by Jenny Frost who has been a regular member until 2012. "Whole Again" hit the top spot of the UK charts becoming their first #1 and stayed at the top for four consecutive weeks. Thanx to its success in the UK market the single was released globally and eventually reached #1 in eighteen other countries, including six weeks in Germany and New Zealand.

Atomic Kitten second line-up |
In April 2004, after a string of hits and #1 albums, following the departure of Hamilton, the group announced their split, although they returned briefly a year later to release a new version of their single "Cradle". They also made one-off appearances in 2006 and 2008 to release charity singles. On 4 March 2012, Hamilton claimed that the group would be reforming during the year, although this was later put into doubt due to squabbling between Katona and Frost. However, on 18 October 2012, it was announced that the original members of Atomic Kitten, McClarnon, Hamilton and Katona, would reunite for the ITV2 series The Big Reunion, along with five other pop groups of their time—B*Witched, Five, Liberty X, Honeyz and 911. Frost was unable to take part in the comeback due to her pregnancy, but Hamilton has since confirmed that Frost would be welcomed back if she wanted to rejoin the group in the future.
In July 2013 Atomic Kitten confirmed that Jenny Frost will return to the band at the end of 2013 and will release new material with the band. This will be the first time all four members to date to release material together.
As Natasha hamilton said their new single is already recorded and it's gonna be out very soon!

ReplyDeleteI wish they had stayed together for a longer period of time, but I'm glad they are back.
ReplyDeleteI think they had a lot of potential and they had amazing ballads as well as rhytmic tunes. My problem is that, like many Britsh bands, they released too many covers (ETERNAL FLAME, THE TIDE IS HIGH).
YOU ARE best song ever!
It looks like we have similar tastes, You Are is a great song indeed and my fav song of theirs :-)
