Lollipop

 

In this post I am going to introduce one of my all-time favourite girlband. I am sure you will like them just as much as I do.

Lollipop is an italian girlband created on the italian version of the tv show Popstars. Lollipop debuted in 2001 with the hit single "Down Down Down" that reached the #1 spot on the italian charts selling more than 120'000 copies. The single was certified platinum.

The five girls of Lollipop were Roberta Ruiu, Dominique Fidanza, Veronica Rubino, Marta Falcone and Marcella Ovani. Selected among thousands of girls Lollipop made their debut in 2001 and released three albums and 6 singles before splitting up in 2004 after a two-year hiatus. The italian music scene is not very open and international pop music is not very popular  but Lollipop managed to be the first (and almost only) italian girlband to reach success selling more than 250'000 copies of their albums and singles. Their first album "Popstars" received Gold certification and all the singles released from it were charts hits. They sing mainly in english but released two singles in italian: Batte Forte (more that 50'000 copies sold) and Credi a Me for "The Jungle Book 2" soundtrack. 

After the release of their second album "Together" the group decided to split and disapperead from the music scene for years until 2013 when they reunited without member Dominique Fidanza. 

The announcement of their reunion brought their first album and single back in the Italian Itunes Chart. 

In summer 2013 Lollipop released their new single "Ciao (Reload)" produced by italian DJ and producer Fargetta. The single was very well received by fans, reaching the Top 10 singles chart and the #1 of the Itunes Dance Chart. The video has more than 300'000 views on Youtube.

Currently the girls are promoting the single and revelead that they are going back in studio in September to start recording their fourth album.
