No Angels

No Angels is a german girlband created by TV show Popstars. Originally a quintet, they released albums as a four-piece and are currently a trio. I have been a fan since their debut and I think they're one of the most talented vocal groups I have ever heard, their live performances are absolutely stunning. During their career they've sold more than 5'000'000 records and are considered the biggest german female band of all times.

German girl group No Angels released five studio albums, three compilation albums, two live albums, four video albums and seventeen singles. The group sold over five million records before breaking up in 2003 making them the "best selling" German girl group of all time.

In February 2001 the band released their debut single, "Daylight in Your Eyes", which reached number one in Germany for six consecutive weeks. The song also topped the charts in Austria and Switzerland. The group's debut album, Elle'ments, was released the following month and topped the German albums chart for three weeks, eventually being certified 7× gold. The album also reached number one in Austria and Switzerland for four weeks, going platinum in both countries. The album spawned three more top ten singles, including a cover of Eurythmics', "There Must Be an Angel", which reached number one in Germany for five weeks. The band's second album, Now... Us!, also peaked at number one in Germany in June 2002. Now... Us produced four singles, two of which reached the top five in Germany, including their third number one single in Germany and Austria, "Something About Us".

Preceded by their fourth number-one single, "No Angel (It's All in Your Mind)" and top five single "Someday", the group's third album,Pure, was released in August 2003. It was their first album as a quartet because member Jessica had left the group due to her pregnancy. Although the album was less successful than its predecessors, it was still certified gold. The group announced that they were splitting up in Autumn 2003, and released one final album, The Best of No Angels, a greatest hits album with all of their singles. It peaked at number five in Germany for two weeks and for its release the band reformed as a quintet. The band
The Reunion in 2007
re-formed in 2007 without member Vanessa Petruo and released their fourth studio album, Destiny in April 2007. The album was less successful then their previous albums, peaking at number four in Germany, making it their first studio album not to reach the top spot. Although the singles produced failed to match the success of its preceders, it produced two top five hits with the comeback single "Goodbye to Yesterday" and the German entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, "Disappear". The band's second post-reunion album, Welcome to the Dance, was released in September 2009. It peaked at number twenty-six, lasting two weeks in the German albums chart, making it both, their lowest-charting and selling album to date. Its first and only single "One Life" peaked at number fifteen in Germany.

No Angels career is characterized by a string of hits and they were very respected by the critics and the public thanx to their undeniable vocal talent.

At this very moment the band is on hiatus and is a currently a trio due to Nadja's scandals that led her to leave the band. Their future is uncertain but their career will not let them be easily forgotten.

  1. Not sure if they were the best girlband. I was never a fan of its line up... only Sandy took my heart. Anyway, they had a lot of hits, and their last album WELCOME TO THE DANCE is outstanding.

I hope they release more original music in the future.
