Another day, another post, another girlband!
Today's post is about Excellence (or XLNS) a swedish girlband created through the Tv Show Popstars in 2001. They had a number 1 album and 5 top 10 singles and entered Melodifestivalen in 2002. They also recorded the official Winter Olympics song. They split up shortly after the song was released. Videos and music after the jump!
What You Need To Know
Their first single cover |
There is not much information about Excellence on the web because they split up only one year after their debut. What we know is that they were a five-piece group and that one of the girls was Ana Johnsson, who later recorded "We Are" for the "Spiderman 2" movie soundtrack. They may not be the longest-lived group but their first album is pop at its finest. The record is titled "The Region Of Excellence" it was a #1 album on the Swedish Charts and I still love it! The girls recorded a last single "We Can Dance" that it was supposed to be the opening single for their second album. Right before the recordings of the single one of the girls left the band and Excellence appear as a four-piece in the video. "We Can Dance" is their last top10 hit and their last single. The plans for a second album were shelved and the label opted for a re-edition of the first record with "We Can Dance" and "Last To Know" added to the tracklist. The girls split up shortly after.

Great debut! It's devastating they splitted up so soon. They were amazing.
